Chef Tan Kim Weng’s first foray into the world of food was his family’s dim sum hawker stall in Ipoh where he picked up the skills and interest for the kitchen. As a young boy, he was inspired to go down this path – and he hasn’t looked back since. He sees MIGF as a platform for him to share and gain knowledge from other top chefs in Malaysia. But as a chef who considers his hard work paid off when at the end of the day his guests compliment his food, he also sees it as a good way to get feedback. “Whether it’s good or bad, it doesn’t matter. Guests these days have high expectations and as chefs, we must always be open to improvement. Our work never stops.”
