Chef Buck Stanlie
When the camera’s rolling, Chef Buck becomes a shyer, more nervous version of himself. But in between takes, he’s talking animatedly about food or cracking jokes with his team. It’s clear that where he feels most comfortable is in the kitchen. When he was 20, he started work at an Italian restaurant in his hometown of Kuching and fell in love with it. “Compared to all other European food, there is just something different about Italian food,” he says. He describes his festival menu as simple but tasty. “What’s most important to me is taste.” Diners can look forward to classic Italian comfort food such as chicken parmigiana and homemade tiramisu. Sure, Chef Buck might be playing it safe for his first MIGF but you know what they say, better safe than sorry!
