After Graduating from the NPC Institute of Hotel Management, Chef Syahir Ismail popularly known as Chef Black, began his culinary journey as an apprentice with the Crystal Crown Hotel.

After his learning stint there he moved on to greener pastures and worked with some of the most renowned high end International hotel chains including The Pan Pacific and the Hilton Group, gleaning a world of experience in a variety of positions.

In 2000 he was ready to tackle his next challenge and moved to the UAE to gain further knowledge, working for the renowned Emirates Tower in Dubai.

Now at The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa as Sous Chef, he is a leading figure and guides his team in innovating new food trends.

Chef Syahir is no stranger to cooking for famous figures, having had the chance to show off his skills for prolific clients such as HRH Abdul Halim of Kedah, Prime Minister of Malaysia and many more.
