The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2014 drew to a spectacular close recently but that’s not where the buck stops as selected Festival Restaurants are offering promotions that continue on with fabulous Christmas menus as well as into the New Year. 

Tis the season to be jolly, for KL brims with mouth-watering Yuletide offerings as hotels, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets all get caught up in the spirit of Noel and proffer a superb spread of food and drink that will whisk you away to a wonderland of Christmas delights.

This year’s Golden Cauldron Winner for Best All Around Restaurant, Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie, is offering diners priority booking with best seats over the holidays. Chef Nathalie creates sumptuous French food delicately and artistically presented – elements which have won over KL’s gourmands since opening some four years ago.

Tanzini, one of the capital’s foremost modern European eateries perched on level 28 of GTower, is also offering guests with year-end bookings best seats in the house on top of a 10% discount on the total bill.

Over at Ten Japanese Fine Dining, and if you’re down for a far east Christmas feast, you’ll get a 15% discount for year-end bookings (just make sure to book two full weeks in advance). Minori is getting into the spirit of Christmas with a lush six course menu that includes toro and salmon sashimi, ebi shinjyou and foie gras to aikamo teriyaki. You’ll get a small bottle of house sake with your meal. Cheers!

Meanwhile, over at Samplings on the Fourteenth in the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Chef Valmurugan Subramaniam – this year’s recipient of the Chef Congeniality award – is offering a 10% discount on take away turkeys! Chef Val is known for his mastery of meats, cooking each hunk to utter perfection so you can be sure that this will be one of the tastiest Christmas birds you’ll ever savour.

The Hilton KL’s Chambers Bar & Grill and Graze are preparing epicurean delights of the highest order, whereby Chambers’ four course festival feast will feature lavish robotayaki style tiger prawns and baby squid, grilled to perfection. Graze offers up a two course Christmas menu of classic and contemporary European dishes including toasted millet, oyster Mornay style and white wine mussels.

Chef Siti Arini Darsom at the Best Western Premiere Dua Sentral’s Grill 582 has designed an exquisite five course menu that will all but dazzle for New Year’s Eve. Highlights include lobster bisque ‘brittany blue’ lobster and lemongrass aroma, Australian lamb shoulder rack, caramelised baby carrot and fine bean, mint yogurt dressing, and a warm chocolate fudge for a perfect sweet ending.

End the year with a heady combination of eastern and western elements, brought together in seamless fashion by the charming Chef Sombat Kokasemkul of NEO Tamarind. Authenticity and innovation have always been hallmarks of the Tamarind establishments and this continues on in their Tamarind Festive Menus to ring in the New Year.

Have a ‘Charcoal-fied’ celebration at Charcoal, The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s flaming new restaurant, where Chef Robert Johnston presents traditional roasts with all the trimmings, grill and rotisserie options as well as Aunty Belle’s delicious sambals and sauces to boot.

Finally, Sagano and Dynasty at The Renaissance KL Hotel, are each showcasing a myriad of fine Japanese and Cantonese flavours respectively at the Christmas and New Year’s Day Long Lunch Buffets. Some of the festive specials include braised abalone with goose web, dumpling and mushrooms; poached somen in wine, abalone and char siew as well as warm Christmas pudding and almond soup with peanut dumpling.
