Chef Ricky’s enthusiasm and eagerness when talking about his trade are infectious, and almost makes you want to put on a set of chef whites yourself. Like many culinary professionals, one of his favourite pastimes is travelling and discovering new cultures through food.

Through this, Chef Ricky says he can gain a different perspective on tried and trusted habits and techniques. The inspiration he gains has clearly done the 20-year veteran well, as Chef Ricky boasts several awards to his name, including the coveted gold medal at the World Golden Chef Competition for Chinese cuisine in 2005 to silver and gold awards for Excellent Service by SPRING Singapore in 2005 and 2006. Cooking is what motivates Chef Ricky each and every day.

“What I relish most is meeting people who have a real interest in food and sharing ideas with them, because learning is a lifelong process. Every day, I learn something new that helps me to be a better chef,” he says.
