Your rating: None Average: 5

The Vision Four Media Group held a private high tea function at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on 4 December in appreciation of Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2012’s 28 participating festival restaurants. The guest of honour of the event was MIGF Royal Patron, Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja’afar. Invited guests included the master chefs and management teams of all 28 festival restaurants, and general managers of the various hotels that house some of these restaurants.

The high tea kicked off with a welcoming speech by MIGF Organizing Chairman, Dato’ Steve Day. He expressed his utmost gratitude to everyone involved in making MIGF 2012 a huge success. Dato’ Steve hoped that all the festival restaurants this year will continue to support this gastronomic event, and also looked forward to attracting more premier restaurants in Malaysia to participate in the future.

After that, guests were shown a video presentation of the MIGF 2012 Grand Finale that was held in November at Sunway Lagoon’s Surf Beach. When the video ended, Tunku Naquiyuddin was invited on stage to deliver his speech. The Royal Patron of MIGF expressed his delight at how well the festival was carried out and how much he enjoyed the festival’s publicity dinners. His humorous remarks during his speech had the entire ballroom roaring with laughter and applause. Tunku Naquiyuddin also expressed his gratitude to the 28 festival restaurants for putting in so much effort to make MIGF 2012 a success and looked forward to MIGF 2013.

Next, the Vision Four Media Group sprang a pleasant surprise on the guests by showing an “extended” version of the music video parody of Psy’s “Oppa Gangnam Style” that was shown during the opening gambit of the Grand Finale. The music video starred Vision Four’s very own Dato’ Steve Day and some of the scenes caught everyone off-guard, which resulted in loud gasps and laughter.

The final programme of the afternoon was the awards presentation ceremony. All the chefs and representatives of the 28 festival restaurants were invited on stage to receive their awards from Tunku Naquiyuddin. A total of 155 gold and silver MIGF chef statuettes of various categories were given out, with the MIGF Golden Cauldron for Best All-round Restaurant award going to The Olive.
