Tamarind Springs, located deep within the outskirts of Ampang, is surrounded by hills and lush greenery. In fact, most would be surprise to discover that such a place exist amidst the hustle and bustle of KL life.

This Indochinese restaurant, a favourite among many celebrities and VIP’s, was the place to be on Sunday night, as the restaurant hosted a spectacular party, Tamarind Carnival 2011, in conjunction with the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival. The spectacular event was held purely for guests to celebrate the Tamarind experience, with an evening of sumptuous cuisine and fine drinks with a dose of good music.

The night started off with a heavy downpour, which quickly simmered to a light drizzle as guests started arriving. Ushers dressed in traditional Balinese costumes, flanked the walkway leading down to the restaurant, which was surrounded by everything green and natural. The soft yellow glow from candles and lamps paved the path for the guests to walk and admire the greenery around them.

The 500 over guests who attended the carnival were a good mix of celebrities, royalties and friends, such as Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar, Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah Ibni Tuanku Ja'afar, Tunku Kecil Besar Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar bin Tunku Mustapha, Dato’ Steve Day, Datin Su Wai Fun, Gillian Hung, Jeremy Oliver, Dato’ Peter Yong, the owners Federico and Maple Asaro, and many more.

The cool night was filled with laughter and good company as guests gathered at all corners of the restaurant tasting the many aperitifs available at the different food stations courtesy of all five outlets under the Samadhi name; Tamarind Hill, Neo Tamarind, Il Tempio, Mandi Mandi and Tamarind Springs. The guests certainly had a wide variety of delectable’s to choose from and they wasted no time in tasting as many dishes as they could manage.

The chill out mood of the carnival was accompanied by lush house music which had the guests in a good mood. Good atmosphere, delicious food and the perfect setting; what more could one hope for? All too soon, the party came to an end with guests reluctantly making their way back up the beautiful walkway. It was an unforgettable and beautiful night, one that will no doubt leave a lasting memory in the minds of all those who attended.
