Chef Kamaruddin began his career when he was just 18 years old, conducting practical training at the Hilton Petaling Jaya, He quickly developed a profound passion for cooking and landed his first job at Hilton Petaling Jaya as a kitchen helper. It is here where he had the opportunity to gain great skills and knowledge of the culinary world under the guidance of some of the most experienced chefs at that time.
In 1998, he moved to the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur where he worked under the supervision of Chef Rainer Zaingreb. Wanting to explore the world of culinary further, Chef Kamaruddin then decided to take a step towards a different industry and enrolled himself with the Royal Viking Sun Cruise Ship in Southampton where he was appointed Chef de Partie, cooking for 670 passengers on board. He eventually moved on to a new ship - the Seabourn Sun Cruise Ship.
After his years on board, Chef Kamaruddin returned to Malaysia and joined the Westin Kuala Lumpur culinary team, where he was appointed Junior Sous Chef. The following years also saw him gaining further experiences at the Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna in Abu Dhabi before his return to the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel in 2008 as its Chef de Cuisine.
His passion for chasing knowledge continues to today, and armed with an easy going personality and boundless patience Chef Kamaruddin is known as a mentor for young and enthusiastic chefs on the food scen.
