Chef Bong Jun Choi, Executive Chinese Chef at Lai Po Heen began his profession at the tender age of 15 in a restaurant in Singapore and boasts a wealth of experience from a career spanning 33 years.
He has since worked in various hotel properties regionally across Malaysia and Indonesia. His past experience has taken him throughout Asia where he managed to pick up cooking tips from the different cultures in each place he visited.
As the Executive Chinese Chef at Lai Po Heen, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, Chef Bong oversees the operation of the Chinese kitchen and his team of 35 chefs, making sure everything is to his diners' expectations.
Chef Bong hopes to maintain the high quality standards of the award-winning Lai Po Heen and aspire to create innovative menu items to further enhance the restaurant's presence within the local community.
At the last MIGF, Chef Bong created an exquisite 7-menu course that delighted all MIGF enthusiasts and was the deserving winner of the "Chef Congeniality" award.
