Cowboy boots, cocktails, fairy lights and disco classics from the 80s resounding off the chic interior of one of the most hot and happening clubs in the city; it can only mean one thing – Style Rocks!

More of a who’s who gathering of the city’s socialites and fashion trend-setters than an evening out, this glittering annual party is a sophisticated event that adds its own individual touch to the excitement generated by the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival. The MIGF, now in its tenth year, places the country firmly on the international fine dining scene, and what do other fine dining destinations have in common? Fashion of course! There can be no better way to celebrate all things fashionable and fabulous than with a rocking night at NEO Tamarind and, in the words of owner Federica Asaro, “It’s always a good time to throw a party!”
A chic candlelit staircase led the way up into the packed nightspot, where gushing sounds of the waterfall merged with the beat of the music as celebrities and fashionistas rubbed shoulders, compared outfits and revelled in the chance to let their hair down and unleash their rocking side for a night of sizzling style.
“I’m a rock chic at heart,” a gorgeously-dressed Ms Chermaine Poo smiled, looking every bit the glamour queen while fashion designer Datuk Bernard Chandran was clearly in his element. “What can I say? Fashion out!”

The dazzlingly-dressed guests sipped on a range of exotic cocktails courtesy of NEO Tamarind’s resident mixologist – Rum-infused Thai basil and Pineapple juice was just one of the classy creations – while waiters moved through the crowd with a fine selection of treats from NEO Tamarind’s global tapas menu. The dishes of salmon risotto, beef with curry sauce and poached scallops on Thai vegetables tasted as good as they looked, while the sweet-toothed treated themselves to rich chocolate brownies topped with sweet chilli.
As the night wore on, the classic tunes proved addictive and the dance floor was alive with shimmering dresses and sequins, trilby hats and red lipstick. Gorgeous guests partied the night away to the sounds of Abba, outfits dazzling in the swooping disco lights. “Oh I just love to dance!” Mrs Lillian Too declared, joining the crowd strutting their stuff in the name of style.
For all those in attendance, it was truly a night to remember! Royalty rubbed shoulders with fashion designers, singers with businessmen, towering models with funky fashion designers; each united in their celebration of all things fabulous and fashionable.
