MIGF 2008 Mid Festival STYLE ROCKS! at Ministry of Sound

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 November 2008 – Malaysia’s leading retail group of international luxury fashion and lifestyle brands, The Melium Group, teamed up with the award-winning Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2008 to present STYLE ROCKS! – a monumental celebration of fashion, trends, art, design and passion, in an evening of champagne, wine, cocktails, celebrities, models, glamour, runway, dance, music & life!

A special Mid-Festival highlight of the annual Gourmet Festival, STYLE ROCKS! was held in KL’s hottest new dance club, Euphoria by Ministry of Sound at Sunway Lagoon Resort, for over 1500 guests.

“Fine dining and high fashion are a natural mix,” beamed Dato’ Farah Khan, President of The Melium Group. “And after an evening of fine dining, what better than a fashion soiree! We have invited a delectable diversity of KL society, from royalty, style arbiters, and entertainment personalities, to captains of industry and Melium customers.”

“The fashion capitals of the world are also the food capitals,” echoed MIGF Chairman, Dato’ Steve Day. Top chefs like top fashion designers are constantly changing their creations. They are both targeting the beau monde – people with style who enjoy the best in cuisine and dressing for the occasion.”

Organised by AsiaReach Events, for one night only, Euphoria by Ministry of Sound was transformed to the ministry of style. Melium showcased 70 different outfits from its luxury portfolio of over 50 international ready-to-wear and accessory brands in one huge electrifying runway show. “This is the first time Melium is showing every single label in one presentation. Usually, we focus on one brand or several, but not all 50, so this will be unique,” said Dato’ Farah.

More than 30 models from Andrew’s Models were dressed in labels such as BOSS, Aigner, Ermenegildo Zegna, Galliano, D&G, Just Cavalli, Emilio Pucci, FARAH KHAN, TOD’S, YSL, Badgley Mischka, Fred Perry, McQ by Alexander McQueen, Y-3 Yohji Yamamoto, K Karl Lagerfeld, Herve Leger, Marchesa, Issa, Jasmine Di Milo and many more!

A group of KL’s top style icons and celebrities was specially invited to open the runway. Combining fashion by Melium and their unique personality, each represented a “Rocking Glamorous” style. The 34 style icons ranged from royalty to prominent socialites, to famous personalities, top models and artists, including Datin Ezurin Tunku Ya’acob, YM Tengku Mohammad Allauddin and his wife Puteri Badrinise, Datin Su Day, Datin Chai Schnyder, Amazing Race Asia finalists Ida Nerina and Tania Khan, Chef Michael Elfwing of Hilton KL, Danielle Graham, Bernie Chan, Deborah Henry and many more.

Five individual bars were set up to offer Pernod Ricard’s premium champers including Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal, Jacob’s Creek wines and Malibu, along with beer by Carlsberg. It was an intoxicating all-night revelry with exhilarating concoctions.

Euphoria animated the night and the runway show with electrifying sounds and energy beats from three world-class DJs, including international sensation DJ Patrick Oliver from Miami, USA, along with DJ Victor G and DJ Nesh. Guests were grooving all night long to dance music irresistible to the feet, ranging from house, electro, techno, trance, R&B, hip hop, retro and more.

“With the world’s economies in the doldrums, now is the time to take a break from Dow Jones,” said the crafty Dato’ Farah. “With the markets so unstable, one must stop to smell the roses! Unwind and let your hair down for just one night, savouring a great fusion of fashion, drinks, music and dance.”

With a ‘Rocking Glamorous’ dress code, STYLE ROCKS! rocked up Kuala Lumpur’s fashion and lifestyle landscapes with the biggest fashion and music mid-festival event in the 8-year history of MIGF!
