The Chefs’ Charity Auction, in aid of the Tuanku Najihah Foundation, was a hotbed of action and excitement, as interested bidders battled it out to the finish line, in the attempt to nab their favourite chefs. Chief Celebrity Auctioneer Justin Sampson aided by Festival stalwarts, Nick Lough, Toby Bonham and Lim Meng Hong did a marvellous job of manoeuvring the bidding process, edging the auction figures higher and higher until they took on a life of their own.
The auction was divided into four separate rounds, to allow for each of the 28 chefs to have his or her moment in the sun. Along with the Master Chefs a special limited edition bottle of Polignac cognac was also auctioned off as well as a designer watch from Watchshoppe and Cuban cigars from Trinidad Holdings.
The accolade for securing the highest bid of the night went to Chef Michael Elfwing of Senses at the Hilton KL, who really set temperatures soaring, so intense was the competition for his culinary talents. He was finally auctioned off for the record-breaking sum of RM40,000.
In total, a staggering RM315,500 was donated to the Tuanku Najihah Foundation. |
