THE MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL GOURMET FESTIVAL MAKES A SPECTAULAR LANDING

Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday 24 October:
The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2007 literally blew the hats off the many spectators on Monday 22 October, when four helicopters, courtesy of Event Partner, Eurocopter Malaysia, flew Master Chefs of the Festival onto Merdeka Square to meet the Minister of Tourism, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, at the Festival’s official launch to the Media.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan was visibly excited as he witnessed the spectacular sight of the helicopters descending onto the padang at Dataran Merdeka; as were a large crowd of media, organisers, festival participants and members of the public who had gathered to celebrate the occasion. “This launch truly represents the essence of the Festival” the Minister commented, “it’s about teamwork, immaculate planning and highly skilled professionals coming together for the greater good/benefit of all”.

After the helicopters had landed safely, the Festival’s Master Chefs accompanied by the Festival’s Organising Chairman YBhg Dato’ Steve Day, disembarked and gathered to present Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan with a smoking silver salver which he opened to reveal the magnificent 160 page MIGF 2007 Preview Magazine containing full details of all the Festival restaurants, their chefs, menus, offers and other happenings which will take place in the month ahead. Amid the fanfare, laughter, flashing cameras and coloured confetti, the Honourable Minister commented that he was “immensely impressed at the creativity and fun the organisers have already imbued into the Festival”.

The official media presentation took place at the Royal Selangor Club and was attended by a large group of media, members of the Festival Special Advisory Committee as well as General Managers and Representatives from the thirty participating Hotels and Restaurants and the Festival’s supporting Sponsors. The Festival’s Master Chefs also displayed a range of individual mouth-watering dishes to highlight to the Minister, the sheer variety of cuisine styles and flavours that will be represented at the Festival.

The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival begins on 1 November with a Gala Launch in the magnificent Grand Ballroom of the newly opened 5 star One World Hotel. With its lavish décor, large capacity and impressive facilities, there could be no better place to launch this prestigious culinary extravaganza.

The Festival officially runs 2 – 30 November with a record 30 restaurants taking part. Each of them will be serving up special menus at extra special prices, accompanied by a variety of other offers throughout the entire month.

As well as new independent restaurants, MIGF incorporates a number of innovative elements this year, including the “Malaysia Truly Asian Cuisine” showcase and a range of gourmet tour packages for international guests.

If the stunning launch is anything to go by, many more breathtaking moments of indulgence lie ahead at the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival.
