GOURMET TOURS OF MALAYSIA LAUNCHED

Bali, Indonesia, 24th September 2007

"Foodies” from the world over can now conveniently plan their visit to Malaysia, book ahead and enjoy the culinary pleasures of Malaysia that will be presented at the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) this year during 2nd – 30th November 2007.

For the first time since its inception in 2001, the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival will have a new dimension to the event with the addition of the MIGF Gourmet Tours Malaysia. The tours consist of tour packages designed for those wishing to visit Malaysia for the main purpose of partaking in the special festival menus being offered to diners at special festival prices, together with a host of special festival offers from both the restaurants.

Overseas tour operators and gourmets can visit the online information and reservations website http://gourmettours.migf.com and conveniently plan their tour to Malaysia as well as book all their lunches and dinners, cooking classes and their tours before they arrive.

The tours, operated by World Express (M) Sdn Bhd, one of Malaysia’s most experienced inbound tour operators, consists of a 4-night basic package with a selection of 8 featured hotels and 30 festival restaurants. “Tour gourmets” will be chauffeured around in limousines from and to the airport and to the various restaurants of their choice.

A highlight of the 5 day / 4 night tour is a cooking class, which combines hands-on activity with demonstration-style instruction. The cooking classes have been categorized into Malaysian, Japanese and International Cuisine and “tour gourmets” will be able to choose to learn to cook their preferred type of cuisine.

In addition, they will enjoy a tour of Kuala Lumpur and also be able to select from a buffet of optional spa and golf packages any day they wish.

Dato' Steve Day, the organising chairman of MIGF, said that he was pleased that World Express Tours have been able to put together the tour packages and while this is the first time that these tours have been created and marketed, MIGF listed as one of the top 50 events of Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and therefore should be able to succeed to attract even more visitors to Malaysia during the event.

Tunku Iskandar, Group President of World Express Tours said, “We are indeed happy that AsiaReach Events has appointed World Express to be its official travel agent and having been personally involved with the event for a few years now, I believe that the MIGF has truly become an event that is world-class and can be confidently promoted to tourists from overseas.”

The event, organised and presented by AsiaReach Events Sdn Bhd, recently won the prestigious PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Gold Award for the best Marketing Campaign - Industry category. The awards ceremony will take place in Bali, Indonesia on 28 September 2007. The PATA Gold Awards are one of the hospitality and tourism industry's most well regarded awards and are keenly contested for.

The MIGF 2007 is the country’s premier fine dining event bringing together 30 of the country’s very best Master Chefs and restaurants combine throughout November to present a smorgasbord of special Festival menus at unbeatable prices.
