Hanabi restaurant, named after the fireworks that line the street during Japanese festivals, puts bang and sizzle into its creative dishes. Situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, overlooking two of the world’s most breathtaking towers—Menara Kuala Lumpur and the Petronas Twin Towers—Hanabi embraces French/ Japanese fusion offerings in its fare. The theme colours, ebony, scarlet and gold, weave the Hanabi philosophy into modern Japanese sophistication as well as traditional elegance. The outcome? A minimalist décor that strips off daily stress, sparks up the ambience for a jovial dining experience and leaves diners nodding their heads in satisfaction. To drive the festival spirit home, Hanabi is celebrating their second birthday during the Gourmet Festival.

THE CHEF
Executive Chef Hiroyuki Kawasaki left the comfort zone of Tokyo where he mastered French cuisine to come to Kuala Lumpur in 2002. Although a newcomer to Japanese culinary tableaux, Kawasaki—a Kanto native—knows superior Japanese food by its taste and aroma.

His 16 years of preparing French cuisine became the perfect gateway into his native flavours that—in their original forms—are bound by strict traditional discipline and techniques. Despite his contemporary creations, he is fastidious, like most traditional Japanese chefs, when it comes to the quality of ingredients. Kawasaki is set to stun palates with his luscious offerings and new French-fused Japanese flavours
