Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese restaurant’s name is derived from the phoenix, a mythical bird of great beauty. To the Chinese, it denotes strength, nobility and elegance. The Golden Phoenix restaurant reflects those same elements with its unusual imperial courtyard setting and cosy ambience. The menu highlights authentic Cantonese cuisine that includes superb specialties such as superior shark’s fin, lobster, abalone, bird’s nest, dim sum and La Mein.
It has a seating capacity of 400 persons with three private dining rooms available upon request. The largest room can accommodate 20 persons and the other rooms seat 10 persons each. |

THE CHEF
Chef Lai Ah Ngan has been in the industry since 1981. Learning from his mentor Chef Ng, he has developed a penchant for preparing Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine to perfection. His signature dishes are stewed bean curd and superior shark’s fin on a hot plate. Chef Lai is also famous for his delightful Dim Sum. Chef Lai enjoys working with fish, as it is an adaptable and versatile ingredient.
